Blue Hole Spring (aka Jug Spring)
Description:
Do not confuse this spring with the other Blue Hole Spring located in the Florida Caverns State Park. This one is located within Ichetucknee State Park.
From the main parking area of Ichetucknee State Park’s North entrance, follow the boardwalk about 1/3 mile to find Blue Hole Spring. The spring sits in the middle of a pool around about 90′ x 120′. The depth of the water is approximately 6 feet throughout the pool. The flow of the water emits from a shaft about 10-15 feet in diameter. The flow of the water is quite strong here, and can be a real challenge to reach the bottom which is around 35 feet deep. There is a cavern system that connects to this spring which extends horizontally about 550 feet from the vertical shaft.
This spring is fun for snorkeling and free diving, but would be excellent for scuba diving.
