3-12-14 Update – Server Problems, Missing Content

I had some issues with my server recently and all of my files were deleted. The only backup I had for this site was old, and didn’t include most of my photos, so it’s going to be a long time before I have everything back to normal. Just wanted to let everyone know what’s going on and explain why the site is so bare right now. Lesson learned, always keep good backups.

Hey everyone, just thought I’d post an update about the missing site content. I haven’t had any time to work on the site in the last 2 months, but should have more time soon. This site was REALLY slow due to being heavy on the images, some of which weren’t resized and quite big. So, I wanted to reduce the image size for all images before uploading them again.

Part of the reason why it’s taking so long to get everything back the way it was is that the file names of the images are different on my server than they are on my computer, so there is no way to do a “reupload” of the exact same files to the server with the same names, overwriting the old broken images. That, and the fact that I have to manually replace each and every image in the trip report. It took me 3-4 hours to replace all images in the Superstition Wilderness 2014 trip last night, so this is going to take me quite a while to do.

Bear with me everyone, this will get fixed. Eventually.

Just another update to the missing content. I have fixed all the image links for all trip reports AFTER July 2012. I have figured out a “shortcut” that only takes me about an hour to fix all image links on a page instead of 3-4 hours for each trip report, so I should have the others fixed soon.

All the backpacking trip reports have been updated with images. Some images still have a broken link to the larger version of the image and you’ll get a “Whoops, page not found” error. In this case, just head to the photos page and view the gallery there for the full size image.
